The golden ages of style are fabulous in retrospect - and even better when brought back to life. The 2013 emergence of men's style not only exudes simplicity but brings in elements of days gone by (Gatsby, anyone?). Conventional wisdom and traditional style faux pas are being left by the way-side and new takes on old are not only being welcomed, but embraced. The elegant style of this year appears to offer a tantalizing homage to the 1920’s 30’s and 40’s, while incorporating new elements carefully curated by the top fashion houses.  

Silk ties, prints, lapel pins, pants cut just about the shoe, perfectly folded pocket squares and carefully tailored (and textured) suit jackets are among many of the style staples of this year. Loafers, which first appeared in Norway in the mid-1930’s and gained American attention after a feature in Esquire magazine, have become a modern day go-to. What was once used as a casual, easy slip-on shoe is now coveted and worn by both men and women, from Wall Street to brunch dates.
