3 ways to wear a camel coat
Lauren Larsen
This season's hot jacket colour - camel. Sure it may not be as versatile as a black or grey top coat, but it is getting more and more attention, and certainly turns more heads. If you're one of the guys who is digging the camel this season, or if you're wondering how and if you can wear it both professionally and casually, this blog is for you {and perhaps it will inspire you to go out and get one for yourself}.
Here are a few different camel coat options at different price points.
One of my favourite places to purchase this jacket for clients at an affordable price, is Club Monaco {not listed below}.
FORMALLY
You work in an office that requires you to wear a suit but you're not sure if you are able to get away with a jacket that is a little bit more bold than the typical blues, greys and blacks? Well, you can, and you should! Pair a camel jacket with your blue suit and a basic white shirt, spritz on a little sexy cologne, and you're golden.
One thing to mention here is to ensure you're choosing complementary colours for the shirt - you don't want to pair something that is going to clash with the camel jacket. If you're unsure, a solid white or light blue, or a small print with colours that are subtle is the safe way to go!

CASUALLY
Your camel jacket can be worn casually as well {but not too casually, of course}. Weekend dinner with friends, mountain town adventure, casual Fridays, even bourbon with the boys, are all camel coat appropriate.
Pair your coat with a nice chambray shirt, dark denim and a cardigan if you want to appear casual, yet put together. A pair of great Chelsea boots look good with pretty much everything, especially a camel jacket!

Lunch with friends? Walk in the park? Coffee date at that up-scale coffee shop? Toss on a nice flannel plaid shirt, a pair of dark denim, some brown boots and your camel jacket. I promise you, we ladies dig this look ;). Make sure the denim is dark and tapered enough to show off the shape of your legs - you don't want something that is too wide, too faded, or too long (if your pants drag on the ground, it is better to cuff them than to wear them long) it will take away from the entire look.

THE IN BETWEEN
So you've been challenged to put together a really awesome business casual look, and you don't want to blend in with the crowd of blues and greys - here is a look that will ensure you are turning heads, while remaining subtle and stylish.
Style tip: experiment with a pocket square or a lapel flower but don't pair a shiny silk with a heavy wool. Cotton or linen, or any other fabric without a sheen is best when you are wearing a heavier blazer or suit. Save the silks for the uber formal events.
Style tip 2: to me there is no better colour combination than camel, burgundy, grey and black - it's the perfect neutral/non-neutral mix - seriously, you can't go wrong.
