Summer Style

Lauren Larsen

Is it just me or is this summer one of the best we've had in a while? It could be me, because this is the first in a long time I'm not cooped up in an office (sorry, not sorry), or it truly could just be the best yet. I mean, we do have to consider the 2015 Calgary Tornado that really took it's toll on the city #wewillrebuild, but besides that, the sun has been out, the days have been hot, and many of us have been enjoying the rivers, lakes, mountains, golf courses, festivals and local events to their fullest {I know I have}.

Because summer is just the greatest, and it's Friday, I wanted to give a little summer style inspo for you to try out this weekend. These photos were taken a couple weeks back by the talented Jessica Pechet, of the handsome Ben W. of I Model Management

Look #1 - Acid wash{ish}

Light denim is SO hot right now. If you haven't picked yourself up a pair for summer, I'd strongly recommend doing so. Pair the light wash denim with a light shirt on top and a pair of stylish sandals, like the ones shown below. If you're not into the light-on-light look, go for a darker or a printed shirt on top. I really like the printed short sleeve button-ups by Saturdays Surf if you want to check them out!

Look #2 - Printed shorts for the win.

This season, I can't seem to get enough prints - from micro-prints, to macro-prints, & everything in between. This look features a pair of awesome printed shorts from Club Monaco and a simple white button up from Hugo Boss (same as the one used to layer above). Normally when putting together a printed look, I like to keep either the top or bottom on the neutral side. With this look, the white shirt is basic white, but is detailed and trim fitting to ensure you don't appear #basic.

Style tips: Button the shirt up all the way and cuff both the sleeves of the shirt and the hem of the shorts to add a little style swag.
